The gallery is hosted me on Sat March 29 for a chat:

"Join Curator, Tricia Khutoretsky, in a conversation with Jennifer Davis on Saturday, March 29th at 1pm. The artist and curator will discuss the work, the process, the vision and the outcomes of JOYRIDE. Davis’ exhibit was provided supplemental funding by the Next Step Fund from the Metropolitan Regional Art Council/McKnight Foundation. This funding allowed the artist to travel and research the subject matter for this new body of work. Khutoretsky and Davis will also discuss the benefits to both the artist’s career and the community, as a result of this generous artist support.
Audience participation is welcome.

"ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
After viewing old Super8 reels depicting family visits to the county fair in the early ’70s, Jennifer Davis found herself intrigued by circus and carnival imagery. Preliminary online research led her to the discovery of dozens of vintage carousels and carousel museums between Minnesota and the East coast. In the summer of 2013, Davis set out on an 8-cities-in-8-days research trip to study, photograph and sketch antique carousel animals and classic vignette paintings. She toured carnival museums, met with restoration experts and generally immersed herself in carnival culture. Joyride is the product of the findings from this focused exploration: a complete body of large-scale paintings inspired by vintage carousel animals and traditional carousel vignette paintings."

HUGE THANK YOUS to everyone that has visited my show. It was so fun to see so many friends, family and art lovers at the opening. Words can't express how much I appreciate all of the support. Extra sprinkles on top for the team at Public Functionary who took my vision to the next level, everybody that helped run the show last night, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council/ McKnight Foundation for funding my project, Brad for being the bestest BFF and my friends and family for putting up with me during a long winter of studio hibernation and selfishness.

It always seems to me that all the really fun fantastic Art functions and talented Artist Exhibits happen in far away places from me down here in the Deep South. But after looking at all the shared photos here I felt like I was lucky to attend such a wonderful Exhibition! I just love your work and love your play with the carousels, a subject close to my heart! As a fellow Etsyian I congratulate you!
