Interview In Spirituality & Health Magazine

Spirituality & Health Magazine, Sept/Oct 2019

I did a little phone interview with Spirituality & Health Magazine.
As the featured artist in their Sept/Oct 2019 issue, they included 10+ of my paintings as illustrations for the articles. The issue is available on newsstands now- and you can read it/order online here.

I have worked with this magazine several times before- AND I LOVE IT! They pay their artists/illustrators a fair wage for image use and they are just plain cool people! (Thank you, Sandra and Ben!)

Extra thanks to Brad for taking this "casual" photo of me in my studio -because I am a fussy, temperamental art director. ;0)

"Retold" at Nahcotta in Portsmouth, NH

"The Green Ribbon" by Jennifer Davis

Nahcotta is thrilled to present a group show inspired by the power of stories, titled Retold, on view from June 7 through June 30. The opening reception for Retold is  on Friday, June 7, from 5-7 PM.
"Literature has long influenced and galvanized the creation of art. Think of Salvador Dali’s heliogravures inspired by Lewis Carroll, Picasso’s Don Quixote, Rene Magritte’s piece echoing Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Domain of Arnheim,” or Elida Tessler’s 2010 installation, Dubling, created as an homage to Joyce’s” Ulysses.” Myths, legends, fantastical fiction, folklore, allegory, fables, anecdotal sagas shared via our more modern-day versions of storytelling on the screen or through our speakers…these characters and narratives are capable of shaping our imaginations in indelible ways and producing visual artwork borne from stories. Retold shares the work of Kristin TexeiraMichael Dandley, Becca Stadtlander, Yelena BryksenkovaMark HoffmannAmanda BlakeTom SarmoAlexis Kandra,Travis Hetman, Phoebe HarrisMax SeckelChristine BrennanJennifer DavisKristen Egan, Faye MoorhouseKirstin LambLily RaymondMelissa AmbroseBrendan MacAllisterWendy WhatleySeonna Hong, and Carson Converse."
My painting for the show is "The Green Ribbon", acrylic/graphite on 18" pine round. It is inspired by Carmen Maria Machado's short story, "The Husband Stitch." You can read it online via Granta Magazine.
