Goodbye, Tree Ribbons!

I am (so relieved and) happy to report that my collaboration with Chris Schlichting at the Walker Art Center this past weekend was a great success! Here are some photos:

40+ big, long, stripe-y, hand- painted, paper tree "ribbons" blowing in the breeze behind the stage!

Ribbons, Dancers, and the Band with audience. It finally came together!

A short video to capture the breezy-ness and dreamy music.

Close up of some hand-painted ribbons.

Practicing before the show- and desperately hoping we can pull it off.

Dancers and band on stage.

Ribbons- painstakingly painted and ready to roll!

Dustin and Nick performing part of the show on the bridge! So beautiful!

Kenna Cottman and her crew performing their fun and energetic magical sand dance.

I snuck away between sets to wander around the galleries for a bit and fell madly in love with Fritz Haeg's GIANT hand woven rag rug.

Thank you and Congratulations, Chris on putting together such a magical show.
Thank you to the beautiful and talented dancers: Mary Ann Bradley, Krista Langberg, Laura Selle Virtucio, Sophie Thaden, Max Wirsing, Nick LeMere, and Dustin Maxwell and to the musicians for creating the perfect music- Jeremy Ylvisaker, Mike Lewis, and JT Bates. Thank you, Sophie Thaden for making a costume just for me. (I stole it and plan to parade around in it often.) Thank you Coal, Amy, Judy, and everyone else that volunteered their time to help us pull it off. Thank you Walker Art Center for hosting this event and supporting these Choreographers by commissioning original dance works.
I am so honored to have had the opportunity to work with these amazing artists!
And now...I nap.
